Continuing the beer theme….

Anyone ever have this one (see attached picture)?  HIGHLY recommend this one!  The label says “blond ale”, but I’d call it more of a hoppy Belgian trippel.  Brewed in the Netherlands but notes that it is “Brewed for The Leyerth, Ruiselede, Flanders, Belguim”.  9.5% ale, top fermented and bottle conditioned the way it naturally should be.  [...]

8 Hours of Cannonsburg

The Cannonsburg 8 hour challenge was a hot one!  I could only rock 3 hours of the 8 hour race because my niece had her high school graduation open house that I couldn’t miss.  Jeff Jacobi and I were the only ones flying the Founders colors that day.  I know a lot of our team had [...]

Mohican 100- yes I keep calling it MUDhican- which is exactly what it was…….
Teammate Martin had sent me a great glowing description of the Mohican trails. I didn’t see THOSE trails, but I saw glimpses of what could be potential of those trails.
I got to Loudonville Ohio Friday evening and got my race packet. I’d [...]

Race Report. Hope it doesn’t suck

This weekend I attended the Bloomer Park XC race on the east side of our lovely state. The park lies in the heart of Rochester Hills and is a great place to ride a bike. The park holds our only velodrome in the state and has some of the most technical trails I have ridden.
 The [...]

The Western Chapter of the MMBA held a membership drive this past weekend where members raced for free. The chapter ran the race with volunteer help (including Founders/Alger racers, Rick Plite, Martin Hall, Dennis Murphy) and attracted 13 new members. The time trial race criss crossed 13 miles of Barry County dirt roads and two tracks [...]

Brighton Stage race recap

Well, it was a beautiful weekend on the east side of the state, great turnout for the Brighton Stage race. This was a three race event, starting with a short Time Trial on the infamous torn Shirt loop. It was around 6 miles of pure technical mayhem. There was no room to pass, it went [...]

Milk Jug results

Thursday, April 29 was the year’s first Milk Jug race of the year.  The weather was warm for this time of the season out at Cannonsburg Ski Area and the field of 27 riders made for a great race.  Founders was represented well in both the A’s and the B’s with Jeff Jacobi picking up [...]

Marriage made in Heaven

If it’s possible to be in love with a beer, I’ve found my mate — Founders IPA.  When I started thinking about a beer to review, I tried a few other IPA’s since that’s generally my preferred style.  I wanted to try something new – something that would qualify as a discovery – some great [...]

Cohutta 100 review

Well, my first big race, the Cohutta 100, was a mixed success. While I didn’t finish (for reasons to be detailed below) I do feel I am stronger now than last year at this time- and the Cohutta100 is a completely do-able event for me, though I didn’t finish this year. I will be back [...]
